The Early Arts initiative is a multi-year campaign aiming to highlight the transformational effects that engagement with arts and creative learning experiences can have on children’s early learning and development.
Engagement in creative arts experiences supports children make sense of the world; giving them the power to explore and give expression to their emotional, physical and cognitive development. It’s not about doing something better than others or creating something perfect, it is about thinking, exploring, discovering and imagining. In fact, arts-based learning opportunities facilitate children’s right to engage in age-appropriate play-based cultural and arts experiences (Article 31, UNCRC).
Throughout 2019-2020 we’ll be focusing on different aspects of creativity and will regularly provide parents with information materials and resources about play-based, arts-rich learning experiences for children.
The 1st Early Arts Exhibition will be curated in each school or nursery at the end of the school year. Children’s artwork will be displayed and will all celebrate their engagement and achievements and share their journey of exploration.
