How important is it to offer young learners a range of quality art materials? Very important! Soft brushes and artists inks provide a positive tactile experience enabling children to give “voice” to their expression. Poor quality materials may lead them to believe that art-making is not something that they are good at or enjoy.

There is a language of materials, apparent in the difference between a thin pencil line and a thick velvety black charcoal mark. Finding your own “voice” is a remarkable journey of research, discovery and learning.
